She's lived in New York City since the '90s, and it's there she met Elliott Smith - playing the same shows and drinking in the same bars and clubs. She also toured with Elliott and even wrote a song about him, after seeing parallels between the reaction to his death and the death of her partner, the musician Jeff Buckley.
In this chat, we talk about that track, we talk about touring with Elliott, and we also cover her favourite song choice too. The interview is followed by a listener pick, which today comes from Stephen Johnson.
